Electronic Fuel Injection Scan Tool

The new SuperScan was developed with the latest technology, for the diagnosis of onboard electronics of new vehicles.

Through a simple connection between the scan tool and the vehicle's diagnosis connector, you will see on your PC screen, clearly displayed information on stored Data Trouble Codes and Working Parameters, like Coolant Temperature, Ignition Timing, Oxygen Sensor, among others.

You will also be able to Erase Trouble Codes, Test Actuators and perform Adjustments and Adaptations (only when the ECU allows it)

The SuperScan can perform all the same diagnostic functions as the vehicle's original scan tool.

This is why SuperScan's software upgrades are divided in modules that group together vehicles having similar diagnostic systems. You can buy each module separately, with the possibility to add other modules later, upgrading you scan tool depending on your needs.

The only requirement for you to install this software on your PC is to have Windows 95 / 98 / 2000 installed and a free serial COM port to connect the equipment.

First you install the AutoScan Manager that contains the basic components of the system, and then you install the Upgrade Modules, that add the particular diagnosis functions of each vehicle.

Upgrade modules include a CDROM with the software, the Connection Cables used in each vehicle and the User Manual.

AutoScan Software

This software was developed to be used with the SuperScan. Next we will give a brief description of the program features.

Vehicle's Brand Selection Screen

In this screen we select the brand of the vehicle we want to diagnose. This list is updated by software, as new updates modules are instaled in your PC.

Onboard System Selection

The next step is to select the Onboard System you want to diagnose of the vehicle, like Engine Control, Electronic Diesel Injection, ABS, Smart Suspension, Transmission or Air Bag.

Before continuing, you can see how the diagnosis connector is like, its location in the vehicle and which cables you have to use. Also you can choose the ECU model from a list, to see all wiring information.

To start the diagnosis simply press the Auto Detect button, and the SuperScan will autodetect the ECU.

Main Screen

Once the communication is established with the ECU, you have the following diagnostic functions:

• Read Stored Data Trouble Codes
• Erase Trouble Codes
• Read Working Parameters
• Perform Actuators Test
• Adjustments & Adaptations (depends on ECU)

In the upper right section of the screen, is the data corresponding to the model and part number of the ECU, send during communications initialization.

Fault Code Reading

Here we will find the quantity of recorded fault codes in the ECU's memory, the reference number corresponding to each code followed by its description. In addition you will find indicated for each code more detailed information.

For example, the VW code 518 indicates "Throttle Position Sensor Failure" and the detail indicates "Open Circuit or in short to positive". This last text is very useful in determining what is really happening with the component or defective circuit.

Also there is a button for the erasure of the codes, and the possibility to print a list of found codes for handling to your customers.

Data Stream or Working Parameters

Parameter reading is of great importance to diagnosis when fault codes can't guide us into the problem. Here you will see the working parameters of the diferent components of the onboard system (sensors, actuators and calculated values) with Key On - Engine Off, and with the engine running.

Each value display also indicates, the maximum and minimum value reached, and the possibility of plotting the value fluctuating. Placing the cursor over the value, it indicates the ideal value taken from the service manual for that component.

You can also record sample of all parameters for later printing.

Online Manuals

Next you have available al software user's manuals from the SuperScan . In the manuals you will not find specific diagnostic details on each vehicle, so these questions should be send to DEC customer service.
