 Safety precautions:

Never refill any tank with more than 80% of its capacity with refrigerant gas. It can expand and explode

Failure to follow these instructions could result in personal injury and or equipment damage.

This equipment contains electrical components that may cause arcs or sparks and should be used in a well ventilated area (Ref. National electrical code). This equipment must not be used in a building with gasoline dispensing equipment or within three feet of a lubricant pit.

Always wear safety goggles when operating the recycling center, or handling refrigerants.

Remove suction separator bowl “SLOWLY”. Accumulated oil may contain some residual refrigerant which may boil rapidly.

Use of an extension cord is not recommended. If an extension cord is used, it should be a grounded No. 16 AWG minimum.

Never put refrigerants in a cylinder or tank unless it is a Department of Transportation approved for refilling. D.O.T. approval is indicated by D.O.T. 4BW or D.O.T. 4BA stamped on the tank.

The removal of internal fittings and filters can cause refrigerant under pressure to be expelled. Use care and always wear safety goggles.

Never perform maintenance on or remove panels from the machine without disconnecting the 110 volt power cord.

Any  recycled refrigerant tank that has been stored or transferred must be tested for non-condensable gases prior to use.

The recycling center is designed for R12 refrigerant gas.

Equipment is designed to operate in a temperature range of 50degrees F to 120 degrees F. Increased oil viscosity may cause pump to stall in lower temperatures.

Refer repair service to qualified personnel.

Obtain certification before servicing automotive air conditioning systems.

 PREPARATION for USE:

The reclaim tank must be evacuated prior to first time use or after storage.

Connect your manifold gauges. Yellow hose goes to the port on the rear of the recycling center. Make sure that you have anti-blowback valves installed on your gauge set.

1.   Reclaim Function

The Reclaim/Vacuum switch activates the reclaim function of the recycling Center. In this function, the refrigerant is removed from the vehicle system and stored in the refillable tank on the reclaimer. As a zero gauge reading is approached, the reclaimer goes into a recovering residual refrigerant mode- the pump pulls down to a slight vacuum (4”hg.) and shuts off (the pump). The machine now looks for a slight pressure rise (2 PSI) over a period of time. If the +2 psi rise in pressure is seen, the pump redstarts and pulls back down to 4 “HG. This cycle repeats until no rise in pressure is seen. If the rise is not seen, the unit tells the operator that the recovery process is complete by flashing the light beside the Reclaim/Vacuum switch (approximately 3 times a second). This cycle mode is termed the Residual R12 Reclaim Cycle. The length of time that the machine looks for a pressure rise during residual cycling depends on ambient temperature. The Recycling Center calculates this automatically. The clicking sound of a solenoid opening and closing during the reclaim function is normal.

NOTE:  The Reclaim/Vacuum light is used for multiple functions:

1.     to indicate that the Reclaim/Vacuum switch has been turned on.

2.     to indicate that a reclaim function has been completed. (Flashes continuously about three times a second)

3.     to indicate a problem in the reclaim system. The number of flashes refers to an error code. See error code page.

2. Vacuum Function

The purpose of the vacuum function is to remove air and moisture from the vehicles A/C system prior to charging. This function is also used to prepare reclaim tanks before placing them into service.

When the vacuum function is selected, the unit enters the reclaim mode first reclaiming any refrigerant which may exist. Once all refrigerant has been removed from the system, the Recycling Center will automatically perform the vacuum function. The vacuum function will continue for a total of 30 minutes. The unit tells the operator that the vacuum function is completed by flashing the reclaim/vacuum light (approximately three times a second.)

                 3.   Charge/Liquid

This function allows the operator to transfer refrigerant from the Recycling Center to the vehicles A/C system for leak testing.

NOTE:  The first time you use the recharge capabilities on this equipment you may not be able to charge all the refrigerant which was reclaimed. Your Recycling Center will maintain a small amount of refrigerant in the reclaim tank at all times (approximately 3-4 pounds). This eliminates the possibility of charging non-condensable that may have entered the reclaim tank. No charging is possible until the “tank empty” light is off.

4.   Non-Condensable Gas Purge Function

In the reclaim mode, if the pressure in the Recycling center exceeds a calculated pressure, the Recycling Center enters a purge cycle. This happens when non-condensable (air) are ingested into the Recycling Center during the reclaim cycle. All function lights on the control panel are turned off except for the power light. After a thirty (30) second delay the reclaimer will vent non-condensable from the reclaim system into a purge bottle (located inside right panel access). The venting of non-condensable lasts for fifteen (15) seconds. During this period of forty-five (45) seconds the reclaim system is venting and allowing pressure to stabilize. A hissing noise is normal and no cause for concern. The Recycling Center will automatically resume normal operation.

 Switches and Indicator Lights

 1. Power switch and light

This switch is used to turn the Recycling Center on and off. The light is illuminated when the power switch is placed in the ON position.

2.   Reclaim Vacuum switch and light

This switch is used to activate the reclaim or vacuum function. The light has three functions.:

1.     The light is illuminated when either function is selected.

2.     The light also flashes continuously (three times a second) to indicate the Reclaim/Vacuum operation has been completed.

3.     The Reclaim/Vacuum light is also used when a problem within the refrigerant reclaim system has been detected. The number of times the Reclaim/Vacuum light flashes indicates an error message.

3.     Charge/Liquid Switch and Light

Used to activate the charge/liquid function. The light is illuminated when the switch is placed in the “ON” position.

4.     Tank Full Light “ON” (Change tank)

This light can come on when reclaiming R-12 from a vehicle A/C system. This indicates that the reclaim tank is filled to the maximum safe capacity with reclaimed R-12. (NEVER EXCEED 80% of any tanks capacity). When this light is on, the pump used in the Reclaim/Vacuum cycle will be automatically turned off. This does not indicate that the vehicle is completed. The full tank must now be replaced with an empty reclaim tank. See “RRECLAIM TANK REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE”

5.     Tank Empty Light “ON”

This indicates that there is an insufficient amount of liquid refrigerant in the reclaim tank for leak testing.

6.     Service Suction Separator Light “ON”

This indicates that the suction separator bowl has reached its capacity and the float switch has tripped. The bowl should now be emptied and cleaned in accordance with the procedure entitled “Suction Separator Maintenance”
